Native to Asia, the CAMELIA flowers in winter and early spring, varying depending on the species and varieties. Its flowers are red or pink. This flowering shrub is a perennial with evergreen foliage that will reach between 1.5 and 5 meters in height at maturity depending on the species. This plant is hardy since it can withstand temperatures down to -20°C for some varieties in the ground, -5°C in pots. CAMELIAS are often more resistant to frost. They like a semi-shaded exposure, north-west orientation in which cold winds should be avoided. As for the soil, CAMELIAS naturally like heather soil enriched with well-decomposed compost, fresh, well-drained, not too acidic, non-calcareous. The CAMELIA is used in isolation, in free hedges, in clumps and in containers. It is planted in autumn and spring.
